MOTION AMPLIFICATION VIDEO

Using Video Motion Amplification technology, Pi Engineering has the capability to capture operating
deflection shape (ODS) video of vibration on rotating equipment, piping, and large structures.

Pi Engineering uses this technology to analyze vibration waveform and spectra in all 3 axes, allowing for vibration troubleshooting in locations that cannot be accessed by conventional vibration probes. The video provides an enhanced high-resolution view of the complete vibration spectra or can isolate specific frequencies to facilitate the implementation of an optimal solution that conventional vibration troubleshooting cannot provide.

The amplification vibration analysis can visualize and analyze operating deflection shapes (ODS) in above ground piping or pipe racks during slugging or water hammer events as they travel through the piping.

Using this technology to capture vibration on large structures, such as bridges, buildings, towers, or exhaust stacks, can determine mechanical natural frequencies (MNFs) of components using response only experimental modal analysis (EMA). This can be used to estimate system stiffnesses and areas required for structural reinforcement. By tracking the stiffness over time, it can determine structural maintenance requirements as the systems degrade.

On rotating equipment and associated piping, amplified video can immediately identify structural issues and resonances, looseness, soft-foot, imbalance, and other common vibration issues.
